چکیده

The major goal of root canal treatment is to remove irritants from the root canal system, to obturate the cleaned and shaped root canals, and to prevent recontamination. Ray and Trope proposed that coronal microleakage may be a major cause of endodontic failure. Many previous studies have examined that coronal leakage might occur, even in well obturated root canals. One of the most important concerns in root canal cleaning and shaping is how to remove the smear layer that is formed during root canal preparation. ABSTRACT

Effect of Post-space Preparation with Rotary Devices and Heated Instruments on Microbial Leakage of Gutta-percha and Resilon-Epiphany Obturated Canals

Introduction: After endodontic procedures, root canal reinfection is a main concern for dentists. However, application of a proper apical seal can prevent such contamination. Therefore, it seems necessary to study the factors affecting the development of a suitable apical seal. Materials and Methods: In this study, 64 extracted human single-canal premolars were used. An equal length of roots wa...

The Effect of Three Irrigants on the Coronal Leakage of the Root Canals System Irrigants

INTRODUCTION The production of smear layer during canal instrumentation is thought to increase coronal microleakage even after canal obturation. Previous studies have shown that the type of irrigant does not necessarily affect the seal of the obturation. Our study aimed to evaluate the effect of three irrigation solutions (MTAD, citric acid and EDTA/NaOCl) on the coronal microleakage of root ca...

A Comparison Of The Antibacterial Efficiency Of MTAD (Mixture Of Tetracycline, Citric Acid And Detergent), 2.5% Sodium Hypochlorite And 2% Chlorhexidine Root Canal Irrigants Against Enterococcus Faecalis In Root Canals Of Single Rooted Mandibular Premolars- An In Vitro Study

Introduction: Historically, countless compounds in aqueous solution have been suggested as root canal irrigants. MTAD shows promise as an endodontic irrigant but there are very few studies comparing its antimicrobial effectiveness with NaOCl and Chlorhexidine. Objectives: To compare the antibacterial efficiency of MTAD, 2.5% Sodium Hypochlorite and 2% Chlorhexidine root canal irrigants against ...

The effect of MTAD on the apical leakage of obturated root canals: an electrochemical study

The smear layer was first described by McComb in a scanning electron microscope (SEM) study. The smear layer consists of organic and inorganic substances, including fragments of odontoblastic processes, dentinal shaving, microorganisms, and necrotic materials. Presence of this smear layer prevents penetration of intracanal medication into the irregularities of the root canal system and the dent...

Comparison of antimicrobial effect of washing solutions of root canals on extracted teeth

Introduction: The aim of the study was to compare the antimicrobial effects of 2.5% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCI), 2% chlorhexidine Gloconate (CHX) and Biopure MTAD (MATD) on Enterococcus (E) faecalis that contaminated root canals of extracted teeth. Methods: 70 intact extracted single-rooted teeth with straight root-canal randomly were divided into 5 groups as positive control, negative contro...
